Thank you to all veterans!

I am grateful for all veterans regardless of the time period or war zone in which they served. However, I do have a special place in my heart for the Allied Forces who fought during World War II.

Without you, both our families would have been destroyed in concentration camps.

Without you, our family members would not have been liberated from Auschwitz.

Without you, our family members would not have been liberated from the Japanese concentration camps in the then Dutch-Indies.

Without you, all our grandparents would not have survived the camps.

Without you, our parents would not have survived the camps.

Without you, our parents would not have had the chance to get married.

Without you, my husband and I would not be alive.

Without you, our beautiful teen would not be here.

Your service gave us all a chance to live.

Forever grateful, thank you.

Honoring our Veterans is always a good thing, especially because they are never appreciated to the level they deserve. This post, however, goes beyond that and beautifully reveals what the men and women of WWII accomplished through their sacrifices for the family of our good friend, Alice. Thank God for our Veterans!

  2. Thank you for posting this.

My mother’s family fled Germany during WW2 to avoid concentration camps and two of her brothers returned to Europe as American servicemen. My father’s family, also Jewish, fled Chechnya earlier in the century to avoid religious persecution and he and his brothers also served in the military in WW2. So while I respect all veterans, I am right there with you; those who fought in WW2 hold a special place in my heart for so many personal reasons.
